Five days on the road, riding through regional Northern NSW, alongside a small group of riders and a support crew that keeps everything moving.
In the lead-up, riders are given the opportunity to come together for training rides. It’s a chance to build confidence, get to know the group, and start forming the connections that carry through the week.
The experience begins on the Monday, with riders and crew travelling together from Newcastle as a convoy to the starting location. It’s the first opportunity to get to know the group, before the ride officially begins.
It’s not a race. It’s a shared experience, shaped as much by the people around you as the road ahead.
Each day begins early, riding together through changing landscapes and regional communities. There’s a rhythm to it. Time in the saddle, moments of challenge, and the quiet understanding that everyone is there for the same reason.
Along the way, riders stop in local towns and schools, meeting students and community members who get behind the ride. There are also visits to local McDonald's restaurants, where crew, supporters and store teams come together to welcome riders and show their support. These moments bring the purpose into focus, reminding everyone that the impact of the ride reaches far beyond the road.
There are opportunities to meet families who have been supporterd by Ronald McDonald House Northern NSW. Hearing their stories, in their own words, gives real meaning to every kilometre and a deeper understanding of what it means to stay close during a child’s treatment.
By the end of each day, riders come together again. Over meals, in shared spaces, and in the small moments in between. It’s here that the camaraderie builds. Not just from riding side by side, but from being part of something that matters.
It’s a week that stays with you, long after the ride is over.
