I’m taking part in Heart & Sole – Walk for Sick Kids to help families stay close when it matters most.
When a child is seriously ill or injured, everything changes. As you may or may not know, Lottie spent time in NICU after birth and having the support of friendly volunteers, a homely room within the NICU where we could have a home cooked meal that has been prepared with love by volunteers, and having a space to tag team and take 5 minutes outside of the clinical environment made a very stressful traumatic time, that little bit easier.
That’s why we are walking 20km and raising funds to help other families stay close to their child’s care at Ronald McDonald House, in hospital Family Rooms, and across Northern NSW.
Around $190 can help support a family for one night providing a place to stay, meals and the comfort of being together.

Friday 5th Jun This time next Sunday, Chris, myself and Lottie will be participating in the heart and sole walk to show our sincere appreciation and thanks for the amazing support they provided to us when Lottie was in NICU. I haven’t walked 20km since May 2024, when we did part of the Camino, and the most I normally walk these days is about 3km so it will be a push for me on the day. But as Lottie showed us, we can do hard things, so there’s no doubt that we will finish. Lottie is planning to walk over the start and finish line too (with pram/ carrier in between).
