I’m taking part in Heart & Sole – Walk for Sick Kids to help families stay close when it matters most.
When a child is seriously ill or injured, everything changes. Being close to the hospital can make an incredibly tough time just that little bit easier.
That’s why I’m walking 20km and raising funds to help families stay close to their child’s care at Ronald McDonald House, in hospital Family Rooms, and across Northern NSW.
Around $190 can help support a family for one night providing a place to stay, meals and the comfort of being together.

Why im walking
Thursday 28th MayI’m taking part in the Heart and Soul Walk for Ronald McDonald House Newcastle — and I’m doing it with a very full heart.
A few years ago, our family lived through every parent’s worst nightmare when our son was diagnosed with leukaemia. During those long, frightening months, Ronald McDonald House became so much more than just a place to stay. It became our home away from home.
While our boy fought his battle, this incredible house gave us a safe, loving space to rest our heads at night, cook meals together, and simply be a family when everything else felt like it was falling apart. We made lifelong friends there — other parents and families who truly understood the fight. The kind of friends who sit with you at 3am, celebrate the small wins, and hold you up on the hardest days.
Ronald McDonald House isn’t just accommodation. It’s the glue that holds families together during the toughest times of their lives. It allows mums, dads, siblings, and extended family to stay close, support each other, and keep fighting for their child — surrounded by love and unconditional support.
I’m walking this year to give back. To say thank you to the amazing team and volunteers who cared for us when we needed it most. And to help ensure every family facing childhood cancer (or any serious illness) has that same safe haven.
